so I was busy with this piece and all, when Ive zoomed out and noticed that theres something missing in this one... I dont know what it is and why it's there (composition? colors? textures? shading? maybe it's just boring?) but Im focused on ruling it out.
I think that lately my pieces are missing a certain flare or sumthin, but I just can't point my finger at it.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
SO please tear this piece to shreds with criticism!
(oh and a tutorial on motion blur would help too)
Add steep highlights to certain materials, like metals and plastics. This makes them shiny, and tells your eye more about the material.
Also, the wall in the foreground on the left blends into the building in the background. Try making it slightly lighter, to separate it into it's own plane. I'm doing a quick paintover to show you what I mean, I'll be back in a few minutes.
Added light blue fog to the back
Darkened shadows inside the walls and corners, on the left and right foreground
Added more horizontal lines to the ground, to flatten it
Added lots of shiny highlights on metal surfaces
Extended the rock piles in the foreground
Copy the image into your photoshop file, and snap it on and off to see all the changes.
