@snips -------- it's sort of a mix and match: I start with a base color, tweak it (light/shade/saturation/add colors, you know...), and then I put in the speculars (reflections) with a pattern, sometimes I use a couple of textures, and sometimes I dont use any.
Textures really speed things up, since ive started using them, it's getting too easy too fast, srsly, it feels like cheating!

Yeah. It's amazing how much progress you make if you actually DO art all the time. I hardly ever drew before I started the site.

Also, wow. The site's a year old now. I missed its birthday, I hope it's not angry with me.

This has a very painterly quality, you've sculpted out this piece so nicely with tone and hue.
At 200% I was looking at his hand and the brush work, very 3 dimentional but simple in form.
I give this one an 11!
I wanna be there when your subject matter matures... and buy one!
