My internet connection went down on Friday night. I had to endure almost a full day without it! Here's some headphones then, done in Blender and a little bit of PS

MICROLAND, the concrete is just a texture mapped onto a plane. It's also normal mapped (bump mapped) to give a rough concrete look.

Chab, if you would like a pair you'll have to send through a mold of your head. The headphones are not adjustable and is therefore specially manufactured to fit each customers head.

Is this rendered in 3D in Blender, then flattened for PS?

The image is basically as it was rendered in Blender. I just made some small touch ups in PS.

You can see the image as it was rendered in Blender (no PS yet) here - http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj124/Rubbin_bucket/headphones.png

Blender is a bit frustrating at first when you don't know where all the buttons/switches are and what they're supposed to do. Once you figure out how everything works, it can be fun to use. I've never used any other 3D software so I can't say exactly how good it is, if you can afford to buy a comercial product then maybe you should go for that.

Andrew, the site below is basically an online book that shows how everything works and includes some tutorials. Working through the tutorials is the best way to learn this thing.
