Well, how about this for a comeback piece. This is like the stuff I am making at work now. Coming up with the twelve things was quite a challenge. I will start coloring the thing now.

Nice. My only crit is that the lines seem pretty faint, but it's probably just an issue on a computer screen.

SPOILER ALERT

Let's see, we've got a sunken ship, a smiling swordfish, a shining sun, a Spanish skeleton (nice tie in to the topic by the way), a screeching seagull, a striped shark, a spiral snake, a sleepy seal, seven stars, a squirting squid (maybe?), a sharp sword (maybe?) and slimy seaweed (maybe?).

Great piece, SC, I had fun trying to figure it out. I think I will print it and color it with crayons. Oh to be five again.

Is there an answer key?

So, do you think I should use a thicker line with, or just on some of the basic lines?
I showed it to some kids here, and they had trouble with the lack of depth perception.

I'd say make bolder lines around the silhouettes of things, but leave the inner lines as they are. It will make it a lot easier to "read."
