I like the face and the coat is great, as Ben says, very efficient.
No doubt what kind of coat that is, and I think I'd know that guy if I saw him.
Looks interesting, who's the muse in the background?

I have an antique bust of the north wind, or maybe it's Moses that looks just like that!

Your method is fine, my drawings and sketches look like this too in the beginning,
If you want, try using bigger brushes and block in large areas, makes life much easier than
using smaller brushes near the beginning, becuase small implies detail.

Your gonna want to blend the edges of the light and dark of the coat, to smooth it out,
the jacket is gonna be harder than the face!! :D Also, look at the 'cufs' of the jacket, they
usually have lines running down them, the hairs of his coats hoodie will be a VERY light grey base
then, with a 2 or 3 pixel brush on 0% hardness and pen opacity use solid white to give the fibres that
'pop' - it'll take long, but be worth it. - please do this one, I can't wait to see! *support*

I am almost postive I will finish this one
I am pretty sure it will take awhile but I am think I am doing pretty good so far

This is the one I love and the one who loves me so I really want it to turn out well
I am keeping a progression file as well.
It is fun and keeping me motivated.
This is only the beging so I hope to post updates.

The progress is good self-motivation and lets you see where you could have improved technique or where you
learned how to do something new and cool to make work easier, I like your thinking Jes, I'm glad your positive
and giving it your all! YAYNESS!!

This would be your labour of love then.. =)
*salute.

Thank You!

I plan too.
I am getting frustrated at how long it is taking me but I also don't want to rush it so it's kind of an on and off project so that I don't get too frustrated and give up.
I found it is harder to do portraits of people you know and care for as you want it to look just right
