Here's some of my photoshop work,
I find it easier to achieve better quality paintings and realism studies when using PS
because Open Canvas has a limited tool set.
Nothing special concerning the brushes.. I use the preset brushes, mostly just hard edged brushes and I work with texture and tone in mind, so I don't use fancy texture brushes but they do make life easier if you speed paint. when I'm done, I go over the image with an assortment of burn and airbrush sizes to do tiny soft detail.
I've noticed using a grain layer on top with slight blurring is an easy way of getting randomized skin texture and the unnecessary bits can be brushed out. =)
When you use the color burn, do you set it very low with the same color you're burning?
Every time I've tried using color burn it completely changes the color.
What am I doing wrong? Is the burn supposed to be more of a tanning than a burn?
Is that layer of grain a filter on the skin, or a flat canvas sized layer that you burn away, or onto the skin?
BTW, this is nice, reminds me of Escher for lack of a better example.
Self portrait right?
