It's on oil and acrylic sketch pad, so it's the same texture as canvas, but cheaper.

Ive been given a few japanese ink sets, you get a dry black block of ink (probably is squid!) wich you have to grind up into powder add water and use it with a brush, normaly with dainty little china bowles and dishes to put them in it has a great ritualistic feel to it however can take so long (i am VERY impatiant at times) making the ink you get destacted from the art at hand, does give a nice level of control with the darkness of the ink
I live in uk what does chabgassie mean ?? is it just a name?

I bought a big bottle of cheap ink to give it a go. All I've been doing is diluting as I go. I'll try the other way though.

Chab Gassie is just a name I came up with years ago. It's quite meaningless here in Australia too.
